|---|---|---|
| Function name | INDEX | INDICE |
| Syntax | =INDEX(array, row_num, [column_num]) | =INDICE(array; row_num; [column_num]) |
| Example | =INDEX(B2:B20,5) | =INDICE(B2:B20;5) |

What INDEX does
Returns the value at a given position of a range. Example: Returns the fifth value in B2:B20.
Semicolons, commas and decimals
Spanish versions of Excel separate arguments with a semicolon or a comma depending on the regional settings of the computer. With semicolons, decimals are written with a comma (3,14). With commas, decimals use a point (3.14). FormulaCheck converts both.
A common mistake
Positions count from the start of the range, not from row 1 of the sheet.
